Young Martin Bristol has a rare genetic disorder that causes him to feel no physical pain. Graham Sutter is a deranged psychopath who kidnaps the young boy from outside his house and forces him to become an unwilling participant in the mindless slaughter of his innocent victims.
Evil Sutter abducts young women and takes them to his farmhouse in Pennsylvania for sacrificial slayings. His atrocities have gone unnoticed for many years, that is until bright young thing Allison moves into the area to live with her uncle and becomes suspicious of goings on at the farm. Once Sutter's crazed world has been discovered, all hell is unleashed. Can Allison save Martin or is he destined for a fate worse than death?
Featuring a cast that includes horror stalwart Michael Biehn (Planet Terror, The Terminator), Alexandra Daddario and the splendidly named Nolan Gerrard Funk, Bereavement was written and directed by Steven Mena, whose previous genre works were the 2004 Malevolence and the intriguingly titled Brutal Massacre: A Comedy, whose cult cast includes American Werewolf in London's David Naughton, Brian O'Halloran from Clerks, Dawn of the Dead's Ken Foree and Leatherface himself, Gunnar Hansen.
But I digress. Word on Bereavement is a little uneven, but it does have its supporters, with Dread Central calling it "Quality... strong horror filmmaking, no doubt," while Fangoria described it as "Gripping and frightening." Wortha look, then.
Bereavement will be released on UK DVD on 1st October 2012 by High Fliers Films at the RRP of £14.99.
