The Soul of Flies on DVD in October

10 October 2012

By turns comic, poignant, absurd and profoundly moving, Jonathan Cenzual Burley's El Alma de las moscas / The Soul of Flies tells the story of the two sons of Evaristo de la Sierra – who never met their father and whose mutual existence they both ignored – until Evaristo sends them a letter inviting them to his funeral.

The two brothers meet at a train station (where the train hasn't gone by in years), which serves as the starting point of their surreal wanderings through barren landscapes, punctuated by chance encounters with the weird and wonderful characters that inhabit that land. These include a suicidal narcoleptic; a man with serious anger issues towards funerals; a bunch of thieving musicians and a young woman in love with the spring. who try, in one way or another, to guide them in their journey to their father's funeral through paths made of memories, fables, solitude and dreams.

Following on from its acclaim at last year's London Film Festival, The Soul of Flies will be released on UK DVD on 22nd October 2012 by Matchbox Films at the RRP of £15.99.

Extra features will include:

  • Outtakes/Making of Featurette
  • Recording the Soundtrack Featurette;
  • Norberto's Car Gets Stuck Featurette
