Alice's Adventures in Wonderland in March

27 February 2008

One of the most lavishly filmed and faithful adaptations of Lewis Carroll's classic fantasy novel, this 1972 British production is one you'll be lucky to have caught in recent years. Filmed to mark the centenary of the completion of the Alice novels, this adaptation brings sir John Tenniel's famous illustrations enchantingly to life through the production design of Michael Stringer (Robin and Marion) and the music of John Barry (composer of the legendary James Bond theme) and the BAFTA-award winning cinematography of Geoffrey Unsworth (2001: A Space Odyssey) and costume design of Anthony Mendleson (Oh! What a Lovely War). The cast features several up-and-coming stars to be, including a fifteen-year-old Fiona Fullerton, Hywell Bennett, Dennis Waterman, Rodney Bewes and Michael Crawford and a slew of established talent such as Ralph Richardson, Peter Sellers, Dudley Moore, Roy Kinnear, Spike Milligan and Michael Horden.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland has been announced for a 17th March 2008 DVD release in the UK by Oracle Entertainment and distributed by Eureka! Entertainment at the remarkably low retail price of £7.99. The film been digitally remastered in its original aspect ratio of 2.35:1 Todd-AO 35 'Scope for this DVD and will be presented with a 16-page booklet.
