La León in August

15 July 2008

Set on the Parana Delta, El Turu is captain of a water bus that links the isolated communities of traditional reed cutters. One of the workers, Álvaro, is a quiet gay man whose love of books makes him as much an outsider as his sexuality. It also makes him the perfect target for El Turu's hostility. Described by Variety as "sensitive," "understated" and "beautifully textured," this visually stunning feature debut perfectly captures the misty waterways and solitary lives of a Northern Argentinean community.

La León has been announced for a UK DVD release on 25th August 2008 from Soda Pictures as part of their collaboration with the Viva Spanish Language Festival. Picture, sound and extras are to be confirmed, but we can tell to that the RRP of £19.99.
