Who Saw Her Die? in August

10 August 2008

It's been a bit quiet up at Shameless recently, but it's time for cult horror fans to get excited again with the imminent arrival of their latest title, the 1972 Who Saw Her Die? (Chi l'ha vista morire?), a smartly made giallo directed by the splendidly named Aldo Lado of Night Train Murders and starring onetime (and I do mean one) James Bond George Lazenby, Anita Strindberg (The Antichrist) and Adolfo Celli (who was also in a Bond movie, of course, but on the other side).

When Franco (George Lazenby) loses his daughter to this shadowy elusive murderer he sets off on an unnerving journey of retribution that will bring him to the very edge of his sanity and quite possibly his life too.

Comparisons are being made in the press notes to the atmosphere of Don't Look Now, which was made a year later, and despite the risk of such a claim the right staff are on board to create it, with Il Postino's Franco Di Gicomo behind the camera and a score by meastro Ennio Morricone. Tension is apparently high, and frankly we're looking forward to seeing it. If you share this enthusiasm, then you've only a couple of weeks to wait as Who Saw Her Die? will be released on UK DVD on 25th August by Shameless Screen Entertainment at the RRP of £12.99. As usual the extras are limited to the theatrical trailer, but the disc does feature a restored anamorphic 2.35:1 transfer and you'll have another lovely cover and yellow DVD box to add to your collection.
