Film Noir in February

11 january 2009

L.A. Our hero opens his eyes, regaining consciousness. Parked nearby, there's a car and a dead cop. And next to the cop, a gun. Judging by the way it fits the holster he's wearing, it looks like our man's the killer. And he can't remember a damned thing - how he got there; what happened; who he is. Sirens scream through the night – time to run. Our hero gets into the dead cop's car and splits. Thus our man enters a hellish world of lethal deception and limitless depravity, desperate to regain his identity in the heart of a black, white and blood-red nightmare where the only thing filthier than the lies is the sex, and the only sure thing is that nothing and nobody are what they seem.

Described by Variety as a "witty Los Angeles-set tale of a beleaguered gumshoe, seductive femme fatales, a ruthless millionaire and shady plastic surgeon" and, perhaps more intriguingly, as "a stylish, sexually explicit adult animation that plays like The Big Sleep meets Fritz the Cat," Film Noir is the animated debut feature from D. Jud Jones and Risto Topaloski and stars the voices of Mark Keller, Bettina Devin and Roger Jackson.

Film Noir has been announced for a UK DVD release on 16th February 2009 by Optimum releasing at the RRP of £17.99. Extras will include:

  • An interview with co-director D. Jud Jones;
  • History of Film Noir, included original trailer and first 15 minutes of 2D animation;
  • The Audio Sessions: recording of a scene and Mark Keller's song for credits.
