Campbell's Kingdom in June

12 June 2009

Dirk Bogarde and Stanley Baker star in the powerful screen adaptation of Hammond Innes' best selling novel Campbell's Kingdom, the story of a young Englishman, Bruce Campbell (no, not THAT one, and he's American anyway), who has been given six months to live, and who travels to the Canadian Rockies to take over an inheritance of land from his grandfather. The old man had been alone in his conviction that there is oil in his ‘Kingdom', and Bruce determines to devote his last remaining months to proving his grandfather right. He meets with determined and unscrupulous opposition from almost everyone in the area, and the leader of the construction gang, Owen Morgan, is prepared to attempt anything to stop the oil-drilling venture… including murder.
