The Texas Chain Saw Massacre Seriously Ultimate Edition Blu-ray in November

18 October 2008

Still one of the most terrying films ever made and the film that single-handledly made director Tobe Hooper a horror god, the original 1974 Texas Chain Saw Massacre was a ground-breaking genre achievement and one of the most controversial films of the decade. Finally the most feature packed edition, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre 'Seriously Ultimate Edition' makes its way to Blu-ray. This release of Tobe Hooper's original classic is packed with features, documentaries and interviews, remastered in High Definition from the 16mm ECO camera originals and featuring 5.1 DTS, 2.0 PCM and restored original mono audio tracks.

Just in case it's passed you by, Hooper's horror classic tells the story of a group of friends who take a road trip and find themselves at the mercy of a depraved, cannibalistic Texas clan, among them one of the icons of horror, the chain saw wielding 'Leatherface'. An idyllic afternoon drive soon becomes a macabre nightmare, in a film that redefined horror.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre Seriously Ultimate Edition has been announced for a UK Blu-ray release on 16th November 2009 by Second Sight at the RRP of £19.99. The remastered picture and soundtrack will be joined by the following extra features:

  • Commentary with Tobe Hooper, Daniel Pearl and Gunnar Hansen;
  • Commentary with Marilyn Burns, Paul A Partain, Allen Danziger and Robert A. Burns;
  • The Shocking Truth documentary;
  • Flesh Wounds documentary;
  • A tour of the Texas Chain Saw Massacre house with Gunnar Hansen;
  • Interview with director Tobe Hooper and writer Kim Henkel;
  • Off The Hook – an interview with actor Teri McMinn;
  • The Business Of Chain Saw interview with production manager Ron Bozman;
  • Outtakes;
  • Deleted scenes.
