Robot Chicken Star Wars – Episodes 1&2 boxset on DVD in October

23 September 2010

If you've never seen Robot Chicken then you owe it to yourself to hunt it out. An animated series created by Seth Green and Matthew Senreich that employs action figures to satirise a variety of media and tell short sharp gags and produced in the US by Adult Swim, series 4 was recently released on UK DVD by Revolver Entertainment (you can read out review here), and prompted me to dive back into the earlier three series and revel in the programme at its best – I've been showing the 'Michael Bay Explosions!' trailer to everyone recently.

In 2007 the team produced a 30 minute stand-alone parody of a certain George Lucas film, Robot Chicken: Star Wars, which was pretty bloody hilarious and was inevitably followed a year later by Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II (Episode III is currently in production). With a cast list that includes original Star Wars cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Billy Dee Williams, it also features turns from Malcolm McDowell, Hulk Hogan and George Lucas himself.

I've you've never managed to catch them then you won't have long to wait, as Revolver are releasing both specials as a box set exclusively from HMV on 25th October 2010 at the RRP to be confirmed. Over four hours of extra features will include:

  • Chicken Nuggets;
  • Animation Meeting;
  • Behind the Scenes;
  • Deleted Scenes;
  • Trailers;
  • Alternate Audio;
  • Production Design;
  • Time Lapse;
  • Photo Gallery;
  • Video Blog;
  • Panel Presentations;
  • Episode Commentary.
