The Open Door on DVD in February

14 December 2010

Cynical though we may have become, the hope that the American horror film will learn to shake off the borrowing and remakes that have so dragged it down and learn to stand on its own to feet again. Every now and then a title comes along that provokes critical interest across the Atlantic and we in the UK get our hopes up, just a bit. The latest is the 2008 The Open Door, the feature direction debut of still working stuntman Doc Duhame, an apparently creepy thriller creepy chiller starring Catherine Georges, Sarah Christine Smith (Scream 2), Daniel Booko (Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift) and Ryan Doom (C.S.I., 90210).

High school beauty Angelica (Georges) is fed up with her life and most of the people in it and is looking for a solution. The answer comes in the guise of a new pirate radio station that promises to make wishes come true. What begins as an Urban Legend becomes a living hell as she unwittingly opens the door to an evil entity that preys upon the souls of the innocent and turns her dreams into a living nightmare.

Winner of the Audience Choice Award at the LA Shriekfest and Best Feature Film at Horror UK, The Open Door will be released on UK DVD on 14 February 2011 by Second Sight. No extras have been listed as yet.
