Andrey Zvyagintsev's Leviathan on DVD and Blu-ray in March

5 January 2015

Kolya, a part-time mechanic, lives on a rocky shore with his wife and son in a house he built himself. When a local mayor attempts to seize the property through a compulsory purchase order he calls in a lawyer friend from Moscow to help fight his case. But the wheels of justice soon prove to be slow, heavy and quite possibly deadly...

Set in the remote Russian northwest, Leviathan is the tragic tale of one man’s struggle against a corrupt system of power, brought to breathtaking life by visionary director Andrey Zvyagintsev (The Return, The Banishment, Elena).

An astounding work of epic scope and savage emotion that was awarded Best Screenplay at Cannes 2014 and Best Film at the London Film Festival 2014, Leviathan is a visually arresting masterpiece that has drawn comparisons with Tarkovsky, shot through with the rich, novelistic complexity of Dostoyevsky.

Described by CineVue as "a profoundly gripping masterpiece that cements Zvyaginstev position as one of today's greatest living directors," Leviathan will be released on UK DVD and Blu-ray on 2nd March 2015 by Artificial Eye at the RRP of £15.99 for the DVD and £19.99 for the Blu-ray.

Extra features will include:

  • Making of Leviathan

  • Interview with director

  • Deleted scenes

  • Theatrical trailer
