Home From Home: Chronicle of a Vision on DVD & Blu-ray in May

29 April 2015

Edgar Reitz (director of the universally acclaimed Heimat Trilogy, to which this is effectively a prequel) continues his visionary journey through German history with Home From Home: Chronicle of a Vision [Die andere Heimat – Chronik einer Sehnsucht], a domestic drama and love story set against the backdrop of a forgotten tragedy. In the mid 19th century, hundreds of thousands of Europeans emigrated to faraway South America. It was a desperate bid to escape the famine, poverty and despotism that ruled at home.

Jakob, the younger of two brothers, dreams about leaving his small village for adventures in the wild Brazilian jungle. Everyone who encounters Jakob is drawn into the maelstrom of his dreams: his parents, his belligerent brother Gustav, and above all, Henriette, the daughter of a gem cutter fallen on hard times. His brother’s imminent return from military service, however, is destined to shatter Jakob’s world and his love for Henriette.

Home From Home: Chronicle of a Vision will be released on UK double-disc DVD and Blu-ray on 25th May 2015 by Artificial Eye at the RRP of £17.99 for the DVD and £24.99 for the Blu-ray.

No extra features have been detailed as yet, but it's worth noting that the running time is close to 4 hours.
