Spanish detective thriller Marshland on DVD & digital in September

8 September 2015

Unit 7 director Alberto Rodriguez’s detective thriller Marshland [La isla mínima] is set in Andalusia’s wetlands in 1980 at the start of Spain’s transition from fascism to democracy.

Two teenage sisters go missing in a remote and forgotten town. Two detectives, Juan (Javier Gutiérrez) and Pedro (Raúl Arévalo) must put aside their differences to hunt down a predator who is terrorising a community stuck in a bygone era.

Inspired by the photography of Seville’s Atín Aya, Bolaño’s crime novel 2666 and US noir movies like Chinatown, Marshland was the undisputed winner at the 2015 Spanish Academy Goya Awards, winning 10 prizes including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Cinematography. It was described by Sight & Sound as "a brilliant edge of your seat thriller" and Little White Lies as "beautiful & mysterious".

Marshland will be released on UK DVD and digital platforms on 14th September 2015 by Altitude Film Distribution at the RRP of £15.99 for the DVD.
